It’s been over three months since my first laser treatment and it was only in the last two weeks, prior to my third treatment, that any real sign of hair growth has started to show. I had become so used to my wonderful, fuzz-free underarms that it was a surprise to see that I have a bit more to go before I’m mostly hair free for good. Irene from the Galway Laser and Skincare Clinic had told me to come back earlier if needs be, but having no events or special occasions to attend, I felt comfortable enough leaving it a week or two. On the plus-side, the hair was a lot finer and not very noticeable. Apparently the growth becomes less and less after every treatment. My third treatment was a little more painful than the other two, mainly due to the fact that the hairs were so fine, and needed that extra push. Irene was quick to explain that the smell of burning was in fact the hairs coming into contact with the laser (as the laser hits the hair, it literally lifts it out and it’s the hair coming into contact with the laser beam that creates the smell), it’s not your skin singeing away. And, It was over within minutes…which is one of the things that’s great about these treatments – you’re literally in and out within ten minutes. The small bit of re-growth in the last week since I’ve had the treatment hasn’t fallen out yet (the hair falls out around ten days after the treatment) but when it does, I should be completely hair-free for the next two months. Already I’m looking pretty good, dontcha think?

I loved the idea of Laser Hair removal, and had the perfect pigment for it to work really well. Only dissapointment is they never tell you if your hormones change at all your hair will come back again- ie menopause or coming off or going on the pill etc! Needless to say I learned the hard way.
That’s the first time I heard of that. Thanks Niamh – it’s definitely something to consider before you splash out!
