Galway Arts Festival 12 to 25 July.
The Hofesh Shechter Dance Company, Druid Theatre, Bristol Old Vic, New York Theatre Workshop, National Theatre of Scotland, Brad Mehldau, Bill Viola, Spike Jonze, Bret Easton Ellis, Henri Matisse, Brian Bourke, Alice Maher, Ian Rankin, Sir Peter Hall and a fantastic line-up Live at the Festival Big Top are just some of the world-renowned companies, artists and events featured at Galway Arts Festival 2010.
Amongst the highlights of this year’s programme is the premier of a new dance show Political Mother from one of the world’s most exciting young choreographers Hofesh Shechter; the premiere of a new play Penelope by Enda Walsh in a Druid production, and the Bristol Old Vic with a simmering production of Chekhov’s Uncle Vanya. Corn Exchange bring the compelling Freefall to Galway for their Festival debut while the sensational New York Theatre Workshop production of Aftermath based on the true stories or Iraqi civilians in a time of war also make their Irish debut in Galway,
Live at the Festival Big Top features an amazing line-up of musicians and artists including a double-bill with The Human League and Heaven 17; a fantastic triple-bill with Josh Ritter, Cathy Davey and Damian Dempsey with Rodrigo Y Gabriella making a welcome return to the Festival headlining another Live at the Festival Big Top show.
