For whatever reason, women are still determined to dismiss weight-training as bulk-making man-stuff. It might be the pictures of scary hulk-like body building women, or the thoughts of pumping iron in a gym full of heavy weights that turns women off.
Fitness experts have consistently been trying to convince women to hit the weights room if they’re looking to tone up, lose weight, look and feel better – which is what we’re all after, right? Women generally choose cardio over weights, when in fact weights can result in faster weight-loss due to the fact that muscle gained burns more fat. I do weights intermittently, and when I do, I feel all of the above. I tone up in record time, feel stronger, can run for longer and faster. As well as all that, I actually really enjoy it – there’s nothing like letting out your day’s frustration on some weight machines. Give it a go – you’ll be pleasantly surprised. And there’s no bulking up, just a more defined, more feminine shape. I couldn’t agree more… Well said!
It’s amazing to think that some people believe that they’re going to just suddenly get bulky from weight lifting… As if that bulky transition takes place over night. It’s very simple to watch you progress and make necessary adjustments if you ever are getting too bulky…
Thanks for that! Any tips for someone just starting out would be much appreciated!! I’ve also just found this site http://www.how2muscleguide.com/ which gives some great tips for those just starting out.
