Splódar Theatre Company’s Dancing at Lughnasa by Brian Friel is considered to be one of the great theatrical successes of modern times. This play of layered meanings, conflicting rituals and family tensions has been described as ‘an invocation of the interior landscape of a group of human beings trapped in their domestic situation but also of the wider landscape, interior and exterior, Christian and pagan, of which they are nonetheless a part’.
